The Blue Moon Cafe. Sector: Community. Value: £50k. Client: The Blue Moon Cafe. When the Blue Moon cafe agreed their lease on 2a Saint James Street it was semi derelict, having formerly been used as an auction room. A suspended ceiling hid the gorgeous original ceiling and roof lantern. The walls were soaked and the plaster rotten because of leaking internal rainwater pipes. We reinstated the original entrance, opened up new windows, arranged wheelchair access, and provided new toilets. As always, our approach was to emphasise the building's best features and eliminate its shortcomings.
